ELEFANT® covers two production methods, each with its unique advantages:
Press-welded
Press-welded gratings are strong and robust gratings where the support and cross bars are welded together under high pressure. This method ensures a solid construction with precise joints, making them particularly suitable for demanding environments such as industry, offshore and heavy loads.
Press-lock
Press-lock gratings are manufactured by pressing crossbars into support bars without welding, resulting in a streamlined and aesthetic design. The flexible construction makes them ideal for architectural solutions and areas where both function and visual aesthetics are important factors.
Customised solutions
We know that every project is unique. That's why we offer customised gratings with options for different materials, coatings and anti-slip solutions to meet your specific needs.
Engineered to withstand extreme conditions and high loads.
Customised solutions for both functional and aesthetic needs.
Increased safety with specialised coatings and textured surfaces.
Designed for reliability, performance, and long-lasting quality.
PcP’s galvanised elefant gratings from the ELEFANT® series feature load bars aligned with the span direction and cross bars positioned perpendicular to the load bars. The cross bars, which are lower in height than the load bars, are pressed into specially shaped grooves in the load bars under high pressure.
This process securely binds the components into a single, robust grating, which is why elefant gratings are often referred to as mesh gratings. For added stability and as a finishing touch, the gratings are framed with edging bars on all four sides. At the corners, the edging bars are welded together to further stabilise the grating. Additionally, an appropriate number of bars are welded to the edging bars to ensure the grating's durability.
ELEFANT® mesh gratings and mesh gratings in galvanised steel, aluminium, and stainless steel
Our ELEFANT® mesh gratings can be manufactured in various materials, including steel, aluminium, and stainless steel, with multiple surface treatments available: untreated steel, hot-dip galvanised steel, aluminium, stainless 304, and acid-resistant 316.
Aluminium gratings: Lightweight and corrosion-resistant, suitable for environments with specific requirements. These gratings are always framed with edging bars.
Stainless steel gratings: Delivered in pickled or electro-polished finishes, ensuring durability and high slip resistance.
Galvanised steel gratings: Comprising load and cross bars pressed together in formed grooves, welded for additional stability.
Our gratings meet manufacturing tolerance requirements specified in DS/EN 1090-2, including:
Load bars: Up to 60 x 5 mm
Mesh sizes: Maximum 66 mm, minimum 11 mm
Maximum grating size: 2.0 m² with one dimension not exceeding 2000 mm
We offer serration on load bars, cross bars, or both for enhanced slip resistance.
Project planning – grating decks
PcP divides grating decks into standardised sizes to streamline production and ensure uniformity. Gratings require a 30 mm minimum support surface, fully supported at both ends in the load direction. 2 mm clearance between gratings accounts for construction tolerances.
