Strength, precision and flexibility for demanding grating projects

Strength, precision and flexibility for demanding grating projects

EFANT® is PcP’s brand for high-quality press-welded and press-lock gratings. Designed for industrial, architectural and infrastructure projects, ELEFANT® gratings combine robust performance with precise manufacturing and flexible design options.

Whether your project requires heavy-duty load capacity, a clean architectural finish, enhanced slip resistance or a customised grating solution, ELEFANT® gives you one strong platform for safe, durable and reliable access surfaces.

One brand. Two proven grating technologies.

ELEFANT® brings together PcP’s expertise in both press-welded and press-lock grating production. This gives you greater flexibility when specifying gratings for different applications, while maintaining the same high standards for quality, safety and performance.

Press-welded gratings

Press-welded gratings are designed for strength and stability. The load bars and cross bars are welded together under high pressure, creating a robust construction with strong, precise joints.

They are especially suitable for demanding environments where durability, load-bearing capacity and long service life are essential.

Typical applications include:

  • Industrial platforms
  • Offshore environments
  • Walkways and access areas
  • Heavy-load areas
  • Maintenance platforms

Press-lock gratings

Press-lock gratings are manufactured by pressing the cross bars into the load bars without welding. This creates a clean, uniform appearance while still delivering a strong and stable grating structure.

They are ideal for projects where both function and visual expression matter.

Typical applications include:

  • Architectural facades
  • Screening
  • Balconies
  • Walkways
  • Public and commercial environments

What does ELEFANT® stand for?

ELEFANT® covers two production methods, each with its unique advantages:

Press-welded
Press-welded gratings are strong and robust gratings where the support and cross bars are welded together under high pressure. This method ensures a solid construction with precise joints, making them particularly suitable for demanding environments such as industry, offshore and heavy loads.

Press-lock
Press-lock gratings are manufactured by pressing crossbars into support bars without welding, resulting in a streamlined and aesthetic design. The flexible construction makes them ideal for architectural solutions and areas where both function and visual aesthetics are important factors.

Customised solutions
We know that every project is unique. That's why we offer customised gratings with options for different materials, coatings and anti-slip solutions to meet your specific needs.

Characteristics of ELEFANT® gratings by PcP

PcP’s galvanised elefant gratings from the ELEFANT® series feature load bars aligned with the span direction and cross bars positioned perpendicular to the load bars. The cross bars, which are lower in height than the load bars, are pressed into specially shaped grooves in the load bars under high pressure.

This process securely binds the components into a single, robust grating, which is why elefant gratings are often referred to as mesh gratings. For added stability and as a finishing touch, the gratings are framed with edging bars on all four sides. At the corners, the edging bars are welded together to further stabilise the grating. Additionally, an appropriate number of bars are welded to the edging bars to ensure the grating's durability.

Tolerances for ELEFANT® mesh gratings

Our gratings meet manufacturing tolerance requirements specified in DS/EN 1090-2, including:

  • Load bars: Up to 60 x 5 mm

  • Mesh sizes: Maximum 66 mm, minimum 11 mm

  • Maximum grating size: 2.0 m² with one dimension not exceeding 2000 mm

Serrated mesh gratings – increase slip resistance

We offer serration on load bars, cross bars, or both for enhanced slip resistance.

Project planning – grating decks

PcP divides grating decks into standardised sizes to streamline production and ensure uniformity. Gratings require a 30 mm minimum support surface, fully supported at both ends in the load direction. 2 mm clearance between gratings accounts for construction tolerances.
